A Find and A Question

I picked up 20 vintage galvanized sap buckets today which will be going with me to Springfield Ohio for the Flea Market.
Yay!! Love these so so much!

So my question to you is this, if you were going to buy one, would you be more inclined to buy them as they are or with a chalkboard front on them to write things?

I like the look of this one I found searching Etsy.

I personally like the chalkboard fronts, but just not sure if people would prefer it or not.

I'm kind of like, seriously in love with galvanized buckets right now and have been searching the web for fun projects and pretty photos!

  2. I would want a bucket that did not have the chalkboard paint on it. I like to do my own thing. Good find, by the bye!

  4. Wow, what a great find to find so many! I love galvanized buckets as well. How about if you fixed up a couple with the paint for inspiration to shoppers? For the majority of them, though, I think I would keep them plain. Good luck!

  5. I'd do some of them up for sure. Not everyone wants to do this stuff themselves. Nice buy! ~ Maureen

  6. I would buy one of each, chalkboard and plain. So make some chalkboard and leave some plain. Wish I were nearby. I'm your new follower.

  8. I would like it with the chalkboard but would make some and leave some ...perhaps painting a black number on the non chalkboard ones.

  10. You have so many - go with both (half and half), maybe charge an extra $2 for the chalkboard ones. Awesome pick.

  11. Personally, since I like to do something like the chalkboard thing myself, I would like it better plain. Then again if you did the chalkboard thing and wrote something cute..that might draw me in.

  12. Hmmmm good question. I think that because they appear to be rather large, I would prefer them without the chalkboard. Little ones that you can line up on a kitchen counter or window sill would be really cute with the chalkboard though. If they're actually that small, I say go for it! With bigger ones, I would probably use them for plants so the chalk writing would most likely just wash off with watering. Argh! I'm kind of undecided - aren't I helpful?
Whichever you decide, I am sure they will be a hit at the market! Hugs, Leena

  14. Well, I like it both ways. But if one had a chalkboard front, couldn't you just turn it around if you didn't like it?

I have a vintage galvanized bucket in my latest post!

  21. Great finds! I love the galvanized look as well. We used these for our centerpieces at our wedding (smaller versions, but still the same). I agree with most everyone else, make some of both! They are sure to sell well either way. Good luck!

  22. i Love the chalkboard front BUT would probably only do about 1/3 of them, i'm afraid you will limit your market too much if you do all of them. besides it doesn't look like that's something that takes much time, bet you could "whip up" a few more if you needed to. ;)

  23. I love them both ways....depends on where I would use it. These are GREAT! I would do some of each....then everyone is happy :) Fabulous Find!

  24. hi,
I live in Washington State and just picked up 50 cherry picking buckets! Love the galvanized look too. I was just wondering how the buckets sold at your flea market and what you found to be a good price in order to sell them.

    Thanks!
