They Needed a Pretty Place!

First instead of listing dresses on Etsy, I needed a prettier dress form. Then of course I needed a prettier place to store the dresses!
Awhile back I got an idea from another fabulous blogger Maison Douce to use old shutters, screens or closet doors to turn into a portable closet!

I was lucky enough to have 3 sets of old closet doors in a great vintage chippy green. I used two for this project. (I think I might use the others to make two more to put in the sale) and an old closet bar. I had to cut the bar to get it to fit. I still need to get some brackets to attach the middle together. Then I will be able to just take the bar (it's removable) out and fold the doors in to move it.

I took off the old funky plastic knobs and added some acrylic knobs I bought at the craft store for $1.60 each.
I think I will add a mirror to the outside and some hooks to display handbags and jewelry.
Doesn't she look awesome with the turquoise beads?

I've found them all at The Goodwill Outlet (.69 cents a lb!!) I keep meaning to get them listed on Etsy but I probably won't get around to it and then they will end up in my annual yard sale. Wish I could keep them all! Alas I am a plus size gal and couldn't squeeze in them if I tried.
thank you for reading and leaving a comment Tammy!!!!

  3. Well first of all, "she" needs a name. Now what can we name her. Something musical I think..hmmm....And second of all, she's lovely. I wish I had her figure!

  21. I do love the folding closet! The dresses are amazing! Do you have a little girl who likes to play dress-up and have tea parties? I would be searching for a reason, any reason to keep the pretty dresses! I think I am going to check out the Goodwill Outlet this week for the first time ever! (I hear you should wear gloves...do you think so?) How about Melody for your mannequin? Just a thuought. I always love visiting you at the Farmhouse, Nicki!
    Best Wishes and Blessings,

I have two girls...so I might just end up hanging on to a couple of the dresses. I find them fairly often at the Outlet. It is amazing to me the people that just pass them on by. I don't wear gloves to the Outlet, mainly because I forget to take them.So there is a lot of hand washing as soon as I get home. Gloves are recommended! I think Melody would be a great name!
    Thank you for visiting Melody!!
