The last couple of days between my other projects, I've been working on treats for the kids Valentines Party this weekend. The tiny tot terror has been helping devour the cookies when mommy isn't looking!
I'd like to thank Crazy Domestic for a Cookie Tutorial they posted this morning! I never thought to use a squeezie bottle to do the icing. I have squeezie bottles....not exactly sure why since I've never been sure what to use them for. So now I know! Yay!! It really did come out so much nicer.
I use your basic sugar cookie recipe from Betty Crocker but I have a secret....I add just a couple drops of coconut extract. I love coconut and it definately adds something extra.
Also was anyone else aware that marble is a non stick surface (or am I the last person on the planet to realize this)? I know this may have been an obvious...but I only wanted the marble because it looked pretty. When I was rolling out cookies I discovered that the dough didn't stick at all!! Bonus!!!!!
I've also been making pink chocolate lollipops. It's so easy and between the craft stores and internet there are so many different molds you can buy for low prices. I made white chocolate cameo boxes for favors when my husband and I got married. (wish I had some pictures of those to share!!)
For the bags I bought a cheap-o package of white paper bags. I made little whatchamacallits out of white crepe streamers and hot glued felt hearts (12 to a bag for .99 cents at Michaels) to the front.
Then I used a hole punch to punch two holes at the top and took some Valentines ribbon (also .99 cents from Michaels) and ran it through the holes.
Each treat bag will hold one pink chocolate sucker, some random "trinkets" (bouncy balls, bubbles, ect) and their decorated cookies (I kept a bunch of the large heart cookies plain so they can decorate their own)

Lovely sweets! Have a delightful day, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteWell everything looks so lovely. What special treats. I hope the kids appreciate your hard work. I have a slab of marble and I used to roll pie dough on it. It worked real well and I love it. I still make pie dough now and then, I just use my regular old laminate counter top.
