Cabinet Make-Over

I picked up this vintage Ethan Allen cabinet at a yard sale a few weeks ago for $30 thinking that it would be perfect for my candle display at markets.
The "Before" was definitely not impressive. The finish was in poor condition and had that funky red tone that screams 70's wood paneling to me.

So I broke out the trusty paint brush and gave it a couple of coats of Country Chic Paint in Simplicity. The first coat had a little of the red bleed through, but the second coat covered it quite well.
I sanded the top down and gave it a walnut stain. My candles are white soy in glass jars and I wanted them to "pop" when they are displayed.

Now I love it so much that it might just have to stay put in my kitchen though!!

  2. What a difference some paint can make!! It's very pretty and the candles show up well on the dark stain...
I have a farmhouse table that I've been wanting to paint (legs and bottom) and stain the top. This helped me make the decision to go ahead with it. I love the combination that you used, and I think it'll work for me. Thank you.

  3. Looks great! I love the crisp white and the cute little pumpkins on top. It will make a fabulous display if it makes it out of your home :) I know how that goes.
