Christmas House Tour

Finally, finally, finally I have finished my Christmas decorating around the house.
It's so hard when you see so many gorgeous homes decked out with layer upon layer of Christmas cheer....and I was sending myself into a frantic mess wanting to go all out like that and at the same time knowing that it just wasn't "me".
Too much stuff is just that for me, it's too much! I admire even adore it in other homes, but this house just is not large enough.
So I took a breather and once I accepted that I prefer simple and I prefer whites over the Christmas greens and reds it all came together for me.
 The kitchen got a simple boxwood wreath and "Merry Christmas sign" and some silver ornies in bowls.

 My oldest daughters room {the only one clean enough to photograph!}
 She got to decorate her little white tree.

 I went with blues and non traditional greens and it made me very happy. It was just the calm feeling I was seeking.

And at the end of the day Christmas is not about the decor, it is about God, Family, and tradition.....so now I am off to bake some cookies with the kids{our tradition}

  5. I'm in love with your white and how simple
    your decorations are. I've been having a time
    with trying to maintain a nice simple white
    house, my hubby just does not understand it.
    "We need color" is what he has said so I gave
    in and painted the walls a green. I hate it
    but today started changing it out to a really
    nice mild French Grey.. I love it! Two room
    complete and the rest after the Holidays..
    Your home is beautiful.
    Happy Holidays

  6. Your home looks just beautiful! Sometimes, less really is more. I particularly love the beaded garland on the mantel - what a gorgeous piece! Wish I had enough of that to wrap around my tree!

  7. Well, I just love your way of thinking! I too prefer the simple and yet I stress each year trying to fit it all in. Why didn't I just take your advice and keep it simple? I absolutely adore your Christmas home, it is perfect.

  9. you know, I am in agreement with you on simplicity. We have had multiple homes, and at this point in my life, I just want less and less! Seeing homes with just a small amount of accents is so soothing to me. I too tried to tone things down this year, and I think I accomplished that. Next year may be even less. I LOVE everything you did. Keep up the good work!!

  11. Hi Nicki! Everything looks so fresh and festive! Just love the pops of color against the whites...simply lovely. The white tree with blue ornaments looks so much like the one my grandma loved! I don't like too much either, and love so many different styles of decor! It's hard to decide what to do. But I always try to use what I have...even if it requires some updating! I have a grapevine tree I love that I think I am going to spray paint white! We'll see!

    Christmas blessings to you! And thank you for linking up to Blissful Whites Wednesday!!

I love the simple style, but I have so much that by the time I am through it is all out! Maybe by the time I'm 80 I'll figure out how to go simple. Certainly is gorgeous!
