Since I love strawberries, and our sneaky chickens got into our plants and ate all of the strawberries, we decided to take a trip to the strawberry patch!
I have not gone to pick strawberries since I was little and I was hoping my kids would enjoy it. They did! The youngest kept asking "Can I taste one?" Which basically meant she ate way more than she picked.
We picked around 10 pounds. I made strawberry muffins cream cheese muffins and canned up 20 jars of jam.
As your wee one said...."Can I taste one?"
ReplyDeleteToo sweet!

Your daughter in the pink stripes could literally be the brunette twin to my neighbors blonde daughter. They must be the same age and I cannot get over how uncanny the resemblance. I just showed my family and they all responded with an "Oh MY GOD". I am going to send her mom this post- maybe she will give me a photo to show you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the yummy jelly. I have never are Strawberry but I usually make grape when the concord grapes are in. I also love making-and canning- handmade Grape Juice. It is super easy and tastes incredible.
Strawberry picking is one of the very best fondest memories that I have with my children. We ALL looked forward to the Christmas season so that we could pick strawberries and there were usually complaints of 'tummy ache' from sampling too many strawberries!! Great fun.....
ReplyDeleteYou are ambitious. That is a lot of hard work.
ReplyDeleteYUMM YUMM Nicki!! The jam looks fabulous!! I make freezer jam and still have quite a bit from last year yet.

You are the best Mom in the whole world...I would have no idea how to make and can jam! I bet it's great!
