What Is In A Name?

This is what I was pondering this morning as I did my rounds to collect eggs from our pretty girls.
In November we will have lived here for two years!
I can remember being as young as five years old and passing big old white farmhouse and thinking to myself, "That is where I want to live one day."
I was born and raised my entire life in the city, so for me being that young and knowing I wanted a farmhouse and holding on to that until I was in my late 20's was a big thing.
I love farmhouses and everything about them. I can't imagine being anywhere else.
Watching deer, raccoons, woodpeckers, our pretty flock of chickens running around our little four acres. Running down the long gravel driveway for the mail. Watching little fish in the creek that runs beside the house. It's all a wonderful part of living here.
This house is almost 100 years old and comes with it's flaws, flaws that are so easily over looked when I think about the beauty that surrounds us.
And as for the vintage part....well I've also loved all things vintage for as long as I can remember.
When we lived in a small one room motel when I was little there was an older gentleman that lived next door who would bring me little gifts of random things he would find on his daily walks.
I still hold on to some of those little gifts.
My dad worked for a man whose wife would invite us to her house often.
I will never forget her white carpet, lamps with gorgeous crystals, and French furniture.
I have no doubt that is where my love of most things I decorate with comes from. I so loved summers spent at her house, in the garden, swimming, out in the gazebo with a glass of cold sun tea and a slice of home made cake.

It's funny sometimes the things in childhood that make such an impact on us as adults, that dictate the way we live our lives.

I know for me, the words "vintage" and "farmhouse" have been with me for as long as I can remember and will probably always be a part of my heart and soul.

Speaking of Farmhouse's....
