I got a couple of Thonet Bentwood Chairs for free, then struggled with the whole "to paint or not to paint?"
I know they are worth a lot, but they just weren't pretty!
See kitties tail in the picture? He refused to move his bottom. |
I went with the "French blue/grey" that is on my dining room walls. You can't really tell in this picture, it looks more like white.
But at any rate, I think I made the right choice. Much better now. These are going with me to the sale on Saturday!

Very nice choice!
ReplyDeleteNice! I like the chair better painted.
ReplyDeletelove those chairs! and, I am a big believer that being happy with and loving an item that you own is the most important thing, so there is nothing wrong with painting over even an expensive item. the cat's tail in the second picture made me laugh.
ReplyDeletewandering over from miss mustard seed's- hello!
Your post title gave me a chuckle :)
ReplyDeleteI always have a hard time painting things that are original or nice wood and I have a hard time cutting quilts and such too. I can't wait to hear about your flea market. I hung drywall all day :-(

Darling chairs, I'd go ahead and paint them too...they're going to live with you and you may as well like them.
ReplyDeleteFound you while perusing Blog land...we have a lot in common, I'm a girl raised in the city trying to get used to country life.
I'm you latest follower:)

So glad you painted them Nicki!
ReplyDeleteJust a quickie...so got my attention!!
I think painting them was a good choice. They stick out too much in the dark brown. Hugs, Kim
