The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Evolution of a girls room......
When we first looked at this house my oldest daughters room looked like this.....
Crappy floors, peeling ancient wall paper, mint green on some of the doors and trim, and closet doors that didn't fit on the track.

Then we painted it "Pool Blue" because we found a gallon of Oops paint for $5 and it was about all we could afford at the time.

But the Pool Blue started to look like very dingy sea water, I imagine because of the lighting in the room.
Booooooo!

Now we have decided on white. Just your average cheap can of white. She wanted pink, but since she is 10 and apt to change her mind on a whim I talked her into pink accents instead.
I actually didn't mind the minty green....but it was so old and flaky it looked bad.
The poor floors have certainly seen better days. We are considering painting them grey. I sold her old poster bed for $100 and bought the new antique one for $75.
The dresser will be getting a make over!
Since we can't afford to get new closet doors I am going to make some curtains to hang to hide her junk.

This whole project is going to be done with mostly items I already have, except for the $20 can of paint.
Reuse and re-purpose time baby!

I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Happy Thursday!

  4. Can't wait to see the final project! I'm currently working on my front porch trying to do the same type of thing... I purchase one small can of paint for the ceiling and a couple of items totaling $12.99 at the thrift store... Hopefully my "reuse and recycle" will come out as nice as yours :)

  7. I love the way you do amazing make-overs on a budget. You must watch HGTV! I do...when I am packing boxes I have it on. We survived the storms. Glad you did too. I'm ready for sunshine.

  8. Lookin' good so far! Please update us with a final reveal, LOL!

(After painting my oldest daughter's room three times, plus having to cover acid green....white is a great choice....accessories are a better choice in changing color :D )
