Louis XVI Oval Back Arm Chair

I LOVE a nice Louis XVI oval back arm chair.
My favorite thrifting find....

(Oh boy....not so good at the photo editing!)
This is one of my chairs that I found at the thrift store for $8 each!!

Now, it's not that I don't love any of these following chairs.....but their prices give me a queasy feeling. I don't even spend that much on vehicles, seriously.
This chair sells unfinshed for $625

This one sells on Ballard for $501
At a whopping $1,030

Now if I had unlimited funds to go out and buy whatever pretty thing struck my fancy, I'd probably buy one of these three chairs (or two or three or four) But that wouldn't make an exciting "thrift find" story for a blog either would it!

I imagine there is just something about buying all the pretty things brand new that takes away from the thrill of the hunt...but then again, maybe that's just me since I don't have any money!!

At any rate I love my vintage chairs!!

  1. Oh my word, I am green with envy. Love your chairs and the price is totally unreal. Wish I had a couple or more. Good for you. It is wonderful to find such a bargain. Hugs, Marty

  2. Fabulous finds! & Yes, it is the thrill of the hunt & the price that makes it more valuable than the price tagged ones.

My favorite Victorians were $5 each, then upholstered for $20 ...
    Have a beautiful weekend ~

  6. What??!!?! $8? Your thrift store is WAY better than mine. I just went to GW near me and they had the same style chair but were selling it for $65 and the existing fabric was already fraying off. Not a horrible price, but nowhere near $8. Congrats on getting an awesome deal!

  11. Ummmm are you shi$%ing me??! You got those amazing chairs for $8 each?? I'm sobbing my little bargain shopping heart out!! Your chairs are WAYYYY better than those others!! And I'm not just blowing sunshine! Don't you just love when that happens though? I saw a porcelain figural grouping that I have in my bedroom (and I spent good for it too $125) on ebay that went for $855. I couldn't believe that someone would spend that much! (it IS cute but come on!! Not THAT cute!) But I did feel just a little joyful too *winks* Vanna
