I've been seeing these amazing ruffled bags all over blogworld, so I thought I would give it a go.....
I think it turned out perfect and am excited to actually leave the house so I can carry it!
I used a $1 curtain panel and $1 sheet from the thrift store plus added a flower pin from Michael's dollar bin. (Total of $3 woohoo!!)

I also made an amazing pillow today....
You may have heard I don't iron, but I had to with the pillow because it required an iron on I printed out.
Well the stinking iron leaked rusty water on my pillow! Now I have to run to the store this evening (yay, somewhere I can carry my cute new bag!!) and buy something that removes rust, before I can post pictures.
Ah, the awful rusty water thing! I hate that! I've ruined shirts before. I try to remember to drain the water but never think I'd need to. I guess I don't iron often enough?! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe bag is beautiful, nice job! How did you do it?
~michelle~
for a beginner sewer you are doing amazing things. That bag is darling!

ReplyDeleteIt was my first time ironing..I had no idea what I was doing.
I just cut out all the pieces from a curtain ($1 thrift store) and a sheet (also $1 at a thrift store) for the ruffles and sewed them all together the way it looked like it should go. I'm still very new to sewing and pretty much just throw things together as I go and hope for the best!

ReplyDeleteThanks Amy! I keep thinking it is beginers luck but each project gets better and better. Sewing just isn't as hard as I always thought it was. Can't believe I didn't do it sooner!!!!
oh, it turned out just gorgeous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bag! I am inspired!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda
There is a prime example of why we should not iron anything.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute :)

GORGEOUS and fun! A great combo...a great bag!

ReplyDeleteAgreed!!!
Nikki it did turn out great! And Happy Belated Birthday! I just HATE when the iron leaks! Or when my husband puts so much spray starch on his shirts that it burns on the bottom of the iron and I have to use a darn brillo pad to get it off or have big brown marks on my (usually) white clothes! Grrrr! Sorry about the lapse into rant there *winks* I can't wait to see your new pillow! And your dining room looks great too. Vanna
ReplyDeletePS I wanna see that peacock of yours *winks*

ReplyDeleteI found a link to your blog through the Shabby Next...love the bag; it's so cute. I've made pillows like that, but for some reason I hadn't thought of a bag like it, but I think I will now! One other little thing that caught my attention...my husband grew up in Zionsville - we're now just over the IL border, so we go back on occasion -- such a quaint little town!
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest bag ever! Did you follow a tutorial or just think of this beauty on your own? ;) Love it!
