Tragedy happened in my kitchen around midnight. My favorite cake stand, that I bought years ago at a yard sale for a couple of bucks, took a nose dive off of the counter for unknown reasons.
I'd never done any research into the stand to see how old it was or what the pattern was.
So this morning I get online, hoping to find a replacement, and find out this......
There are only a handful to be found.
Nothing under $100 which is way out of my price range for a cake stand.
It is circa late 1870's by Bryce Brothers and the pattern is "Curtain Sultan"
If anyone happens to have one of these pretties laying around, and you would be willing to sell it for under $100, I would be forever grateful!!!
that is a beautiful cake stand! Im so sorry you broke yours :( I'll keep an eye out for one

ReplyDeleteI almost cried! I was laying in bed when I heard a loud crash, I sat strait up and told my husband "that sounded like a cake stand" I just knew that was what it was.
Oh my goodness. I know how you feel. I have broken items before and unfortunately some have been family heirlooms that cannot be replaced. ~~Sherry~~
ReplyDeleteJudy and I will keep our eyes open- we have about 12 right now but none in this pattern....

Oh so sorry, I am like you I would not have that kind of money for a cake stand.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry. Good luck on finding another. You just never know when or where but I bet it will happen.

ReplyDeleteIt's a LOT to me for a cake stand. I do understand why it's so high being as old as it is and all but Ouch!
Nicki, I totally understand the love of a vintage piece. I will look out for one here in Texas. Maybe with all of us looking you can come up with one affordable. judy
ReplyDeleteI have one, and it is not like that one. That is crazy money for a cake stand, but I guess it was really special. Sorry you lost it, and I will keep my eyes peeled. However I know you are pretty lucky and determined, so I think something good is going to happen.
