I had great plans of starting early......then the flu hit the entire family. So now that everyone is finally feeling better, my house is clean, and we are pretty much iced in I have finally started.
I pulled out all of the Valentines Day crafting supplies and laid them out on the bed. Then....I stared at them for a couple of hours secretly hoping that all the craft supplies would get together and vote to magically start putting themselves together in fancy fun and whimsical ways. No such luck. I even squeezed my eyes really tight thinking that maybe if I wasn't watching they would get busy.
I saw I had no choice but to pull out the trusty glue gun and get busy! We are having a cookie decorating/Valentines Day Party for the kids here next weekend, so I am on a deadline.
A half an hour later, several sheets of scrap book paper, Styrofoam, fake flowers, 2 music sheet birds from Target's Christmas clearance, some ribbon, vintage paper heart doilies, twine, vintage pom pom trim and crepe paper, I was able to produce these two things.......
I don't know why the vintage poms. It just needed something. |
I'm hoping when I hang this in front of a mirror it "pops" a little more. Here it washes out in front of my closet. |
I'd like to take this moment to mention again that I am not a crafter. I'm fairly new to this whole paper and glue gun process. So I don't really do the whole tutorial thing. Leave it up to someone else who doesn't end up with burned fingers and strings of glue in their hair! I've only begun to learn in the last year.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful share today. I am so thrilled to hear that you and the family are feeling better, nobody likes being sick, and when you get the whole family down, oh my what a disaster.

Nothing like a deadline to get you rushing to finish a project, huh? That's how I am too. Both of your projects are cute, but I adore the wreath. I've seen similiar ones on the web, but the birds and all the embellishment with the background really makes yours stand out. Thanks for sharing with us!

ReplyDeleteI am getting the hang of crafting quickly...but I just feel like I never do things the "proper" way (which is probably what results in the burnt fingers!!)
