Le Bain

My bathroom

It's small, it's cluttered, it's a little scary.

No more!

Guess what?

My wonderful mother in law came over to show me where I went wrong on my sewing debacle.
I tried a few practice sessions on a scrap piece of fabric yesterday. Then woke up this morning with an idea in my head.

Everyone has been complaining about the valance I had previously hung in the bathroom window. "People can see in!" Well, not really. Our closest neighbor would have to be at a window with binoculars during the winter when there are no leaves on the trees.
Last week I picked up 2 shower curtains from Target on clearance for $6 each. So in order for some level of privacy I decided to turn one of the shower curtains into a window curtain.
The before "valance"
This is the bathroom when we first moved in

You can see my mistakes and flaws (one side isn't even the same length) but all in all, considering I didn't do any measuring since I don't have a tape measure and this was my first real attempt, I think it turned out pretty darned great!

Then I took some of the scrap, hemmed up a long piece of fabric and used some self stick velcro to make a cover for the chain on the chandy.

This all prompted some other great changes in the bathroom that are not yet finished. Soooo excited about it and can't wait until it is done to share more pics!

  3. Good job Nicki. Glad your MIL came to your rescue. The curtains look great. Everything doesn't have to be perfect. I couldn't even tell they weren't even. Have a great weekend.

Kate~It's never too late to learn! I bought my first sewing machine a couple of weeks ago, had a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to thread it but once my mother in law showed me, the rest (at least for simple sewing) was pretty easy!
