I've been searching for a matching pair of vintage/antique sconces for some time now. The pair in the downstairs bathroom when we moved in....well they are fine and functional, but they certainly don't fit my decor. My friend Lori calls me yesterday because she found a pair of sconces in the trash and wondered if I would be interested. She says they look antiquey and have crystals. Oh boy oh boy would I be interested! They are EXACTLY what I have been looking for!
I am going to change out the candle wraps? (Idk what they are called!) And there are a ton more crystals that need to be attached. But I LOVE them!
Now you see why I need something different!
On to the next subject....
The armoire.
If you read my post yesterday you saw that I bought an armoire from Craigslist for $75. Typically I don't spend more than $50 on a piece of furniture but I had looked around high and low and most of the used armoires I saw were closer to $300-$400. So I knew $75 was a good deal for solid wood.
Here is what it looked like yesterday
I'm not totally finished. I tried a few different kind of knobs and decided I might just buy some at Hobby Lobby. (You might be able to tell there are 3 different colors of glass knobs on there currently, in my indecision and hurry)
Here is what it looks like today.
And if you look real close you can see all the paint splotches on my floor (as usual) because I am always so anxious to see a finished product that I rarely ever put anything down. Yay, I get to go scrub floors now! But at least I can scrub floors while staring at my pretty armoire!

LOVE THE SCONCES! I vote NOT to change the candle wraps, I think that is what is part of the charm. Keep them as they are. I think you may regret it otherwise. Portlandia Vintage

ReplyDeleteWhere is that trash bin cause I need to stalk it ;), The armoire is REALLY pretty. Nice job
ReplyDeleteI want Lori's trash too! I adore these sconces! You know that you can spray paint the candle covers if they are still good. The just pull off. You can purchase them at Lowe's but they are not very nice since you can see through them easier. I love the ones you have that have the candle drips on them. You can purchase those too but they are much more expensive. Just thought you might want to know.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous! Love those sconces!
