I love how the dining room turned out, but after looking at it for a couple of days I began to think it was just a little too bare. Not enough of "me" in there.
I'm kind of a faux floral junky and I had all these pretties with no place to go. I think placing them on the buffet adds some interest and contrast to the sleekness of the table. Maybe I am wrong? Maybe I am just bat sh*t crazy for faux florals. Ok, so that last statement is a little more than maybe.........
I keep rose scented spray on hand and spray the flowers with it. I tell my kids "It's time for mommy to water her flowers now." New guests give me the strangest looks. My sister once told me that the house looks and feels like springtime year round.
I can't afford to run out and fill my home with fresh flowers every day or I would, trust me.
Anyways, here are a few new pictures. Too much stuff? I don't know, give it a day or two....I will probably change my mind again!
P.S. If you missed it, the before and the after without all the flowers is here Dining Room Reveal This was a room redo that I made money on instead of spending.....which makes me very very happy!!

@JACQUELINEJacqueline, Thank you for sharing your blog. It's lovely!
ReplyDelete@Amy Kinser Thank you so much Amy!
ReplyDeleteOk - this is my favorite thing to do. Hmmm, I think take away the yellow flowers and the flowers to the left of the taller pink flowers. Keep the rest of the flowers on there...then, do you have a pedestal of any kind? Move the candlesticks to the center and move the tall pink flowers to the left of the mirror, kind of a little bit of it showing in the mirror. If you have a pedestal of some sort, put one of the candlesticks (i'm talking about the five candle holder sticks) put one of them on the pedestal and the other one kind of in front of the one of the pedestal, and to theright a bit...Then light them! candles look beeaautiful in front of or on a mirror. All that reflection. I wanna come over and play!

ReplyDeleteLove the vintage candlesticks!
ReplyDeleteI love all the flowers....it's so bright and cheerful!!! It looks great!
ReplyDeletebeautiful vignette,love the white...it makes the color pop!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful vignette... and I have some candle holders almost identical to yours with the dangling octagonal crystals! We use a lot of faux silk florals too since we live in a very hot climate and alas, real cut flowers don't do so well nor last very long and tend to be quite expensive.

Hi there~ I like the vintage candlesticks, and pretties on there with the whites- it looks warm and inviting. If it says 'you' and makes you happy when you see it- you should keep it that way! I am always moving stuff too- I guess I have the same A.D.D.!! lol! Thanks for sharing at Feathered Nest Friday!:)

I know a lot of people complain about faux flowers, but I am like you and can't understand the negatives. Yes, real ones are nicer, but unless you have a huge garden or money to throw away, nobody has fresh flowers all the time. There are so many realistic looking faux flowers these days that I think it's fine to use them.
ReplyDeleteI like your mirror. I have one like that, butt ugly from the 70's, but lately I have been wondering if it would look good white. Glad to see a "test drive" with your mirror to see that it would indeed look good. Now only to find a place to hang it.
@Cozy Home Scenes
