Don't Let Anyone Steal Your Sparkle

There will be people in this world who do not like you.
It's a fact. You could be a Saint, and there will still be people who do not like you.
Do NOT let this steal your sparkle.

Consider it their issue, and don't let it eat at you.
I know sometimes our first thought when someone doesn't like us is "What did I do wrong?" We search ourselves for some little something that we did.

It could be any number of their own issues. They could have low self esteem, or little confidence in themselves, so they try to bring you down with them.

Many times people are jealous, take it as a good sign that you are doing something right and shine on!

Remember, you don't have to be friends with everyone. Look around you and give thanks to the great cast of friends and support you already have!

  1. I love this post! I am a people pleaser by nature and it took me years to come to the conclusion that it might not be "me", or something I did to offend that person and just let it go. Wise words to live by.

  2. Wise Words indeed. I have this problem like the rest of us. But I have learned that you can't please everyone all the time. Have a great day ;-)

  3. I quit running for cheerleader many years ago. Life is too grand to be bogged down by petty folks spreading bad cheer

  8. You are wise beyond your years! Of course, we all want to be liked but the price can often be too dear and the result not what we had hoped for after all. ~ Maureen

  10. It is kind of a hard thing to realize there are people you can never please no matter how hard you try. On the other hand, I don't like everyone I meet, either.

  13. What a perfect post for the week after my daughter's pediatrician "fired" us from their practice because they couldn't handle being called out for not doing anything to care for her. While we were never disrespectful we did ask what professional and moral obligation they felt in helping us find the right specialists and right care and basically the answers were NONE and NONE. We get a certified letter, signed by the practice name rather than any individual- which frankly really annoyed me…own it or don't do it. It was a stressful week trying to find a new doc and getting everything set up so she doesn't have a break in her care but now it is all settle and you post is so appropriate.

  15. Amen!
    well said.

I'm taking something I recently heard and trying to apply it to my life...and it fits with what you're saying.
    DON'T PERSONALIZE IT.

I tend to wear my feelings 'unexposed'... and personalize others comments or actions toward me. I'm learning ...it may be them.

...take care have a great week!

  19. Truer words were never spoken! Embrace the ones that love you and move on from the ones who don't. Life is too short to waste your time on negative, mean-spirited people.

  20. Oh, I so needed to see/hear this! Sunday I struggled with seeing someone I thought was a friend. We hit it off pretty good came over to visit at my home and later suddenly she behaved different. Cold shoulders, ignored me.
I even approached her while back and apologized in case I did something to hurt her.
She said I didn't, but since then it got worse.
My hubby noticed and I explained, he gave me the same advise as you just had in your post.
    And it is so true!
These people drain you! They try to bring you down.
If I don't know what I did and another won't say, then how can I do anything about it?

I should do this post myself!
