Sneak Peak of the Bedroom

Sneak Peak (wow that mirror looks dirty!!)
Finally getting close to done with my bedroom. It's been done on a non existent budget. I wanted the room re-done but we didn't have the money to do it so I used things I had stored and things around the house. Cost break down of all the items: Curtains were bought 3 years ago on sale at Walmart Better Homes and Gardens Brand $5 per panel X 4 =$20, Vintage/Antique Wrought Iron Headboard and foot board (not pictured) at Salvation Army several months ago $20, Blue Fabric on clearance at Hobby Lobby last year $5, French Dresser, desk, and two nightstands Christmas present last year $100, White comforter hand made gift from mother in law, Simply Shabby Chic ruffled pillow covers $2, Grey Fur Down Pillow I made with junk laying around here forever and a day. Mirror, lamps, bird, scroll, cornice and other decor were all free finds including the lamp I turned into a candle holder. Paint was a mix of paint I had leftover from other projects. Grand total over time=$147.
STILL working on it and trying to decide how I feel about the blue I chose. It was a pale (far too pale) blue so I added some craft paint till it was dark enough. Now I wonder if it is too dark. But here is a sneak peak...if you look closely that's that tiny tot terror (my youngest) hiding in my blanket! Also including a picture of what the room looked like several months ago when I had a canopy bed in here. The room is ok sized but having a canopy bed made it look incredibly small!!

"Before" What was I thinking?! That is awful!!

  3. Pretty! I love the french style of your bedroom. I'm on the fence about the shade of blue but it seems to be working for this room. Can't wait to see the whole room!

  8. I took the canopy top off of my bed too; I agree: it's too big for my taste.

You've done quite a bit with a small budget.

I wish you a Happy Blue Monday and a Happy 2011, Nicki.
